Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is extracted from coconut flesh, leaving behind the fibre, carbohydrate and protein, the extracted oil is pure fat. Coconut oil has been shown to improve cognitive abilities, increase testosterone production and boost metabolic rate. Coconut oil increases the healthy cholesterol (HDL) in your body and also helps to reduce the LDL or cholesterol.

90 percent of the fat in coconut oil is healthy saturated fat. Around 62 percent of the oils in coconut are made up of these three healthy fatty acids (Caprylic acid, Lauric acid and Capric acid).

Lauric acid is a medium-length long-chain fatty acid (MCFA). When lauric acid is digested, it also forms a substance called monolaurin. Both lauric acid and monolaurin can kill harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Coconut oil works because the Leydig cells in the testes converts cholesterol into testosterone. Research shows that coconut oil helps the Leydig cells absorb more cholesterol. Coconut oil also increase the activity of an enzyme that's involved in the production of testosterone.

Cooking with coconut oil

Cooking with coconut oil. Unlike many other cooking oils, coconut oil is very stable and can withstand high cooking temperatures (thanks to its saturated fat content). It's perfectly suitable for  baking, roasting and even frying.

Oil pulling with coconut oil

Oil pulling has been used for centuries as a way to cleanse the mouth of bacteria and help heal periodontal disease. Coconut oil is one of the most effective oils for oil pulling due to its high  antibacterial action. By swishing the oil in your mouth, the oil denatures the bacteria and sticks to it. Removing oral bacteria greatly reduces your risk of periodontal disease. If you want to heal your gums and repair your teeth.
